Reviews
Reviews are written testimonials by previous customers that help build trust and establish a company’s expertise. They’re typically displayed on iMarket sites in two areas: A Dedicated Reviews Page* and reviews blocks. We’ll explore both of those areas below.
*Note: Sites with Recommend Me enabled will display different content on the Dedicated Reviews page (and in some cases, in the reviews blocks as well) than what is illustrated in this entry. Dedicated Reviews Page
All websites include a Dedicated Reviews Page (unless removed by client request). The reviews page is typically found at http://www.yoursiteurl.com/about/reviews.
By default, the page lists all reviews in reverse chronological order (added via the reviews module) in the content area. Each review contains the full quote and source.
This page may also have the company logo, site URL, and phone number above the reviews content. Most newer sites will not have this element by default, but until Q3 2017 this was part of the default styling.
Styling
At this time, the Dedicated Reviews page does not use custom styling provided by the Design team. However, the Developer may make small tweaks to the default styling to better suit the overall site design at the time of building the site.
Reviews Blocks
The reviews blocks on the homepage and subpage templates are used to showcase a selection of reviews from the Reviews Module.* They will automatically update on the site when edited through the CMS, and will display a random selection of reviews each time the page loads.
*In rare cases, the content that displays in the reviews block is a static review: In other words, it is not pulled from the module. In these cases, only Developers can modify the content that displays in the reviews block.
Typically the individual review displays the teaser and source. There is also usually a “view all” link of some kind that links to the Dedicated Reviews Page.
Styling
Each site uses custom styling for the reviews block as dictated by the site design. Typically, we see the selection of reviews displayed in one of the following ways:
- Static displays of a single promotion
- Sliders displaying a single promotion
Feature on Homepage
By default, the selection of reviews will display randomly in homepage and subpage blocks. However, there is also a feature that allows the CMS user to tag the review as “Feature on Homepage.” Reviews with this option selected will display on the homepage before those without the tag.
