How Do iMarket Websites Support the Call Tracking Product?
Call Tracking enables us to attribute the medium/source of telephone calls that came from the iMarket website and our various marketing products.
How Do We Track Calls?
Calls are tracked by assigning distinct phone numbers to the various referral sources being tracked. When a call comes in from one of these specific phone numbers, we can attribute that call to the product based on its assignment.
Phone Number Replacement
Once the phone numbers are assigned, code is added to the website that changes the phone number displayed based on the assigned source. As an example, if a client clicks on a remarketing ad and visits the website, the phone number that displays throughout the site will be replaced with a remarketing-specific phone number for the duration of their visit. Once that user places a call to that phone number, we can attribute the lead to the remarketing service.
Best Practices
In order for call tracking to work effectively, it is important that the main phone number used on the site is consistent (across the site and in relation to our records)—otherwise, all the phone numbers may not be replaced by the call tracking code. Likewise, images containing phone numbers should try to be avoided, as these will not be replaced by the call tracking code.
